Hunter LOVED the story of Milton Hershey.  We had a lot of fun with that. After that book, he saidhe wanted to be a candy maker when he grew up.  We experimented with some new candy recipes for caramel popcorn. We saw pictures of the Hershey factory on Google Earth.

We also read Old Penn Station, which was in New York City, but it was a great opportunity to talk about how the railroad got from Pennsylvania to NYC.  Google Earth has some amazing panning street view photos outside of the current Penn Station.

We are studying the states in order of statehood.  Each week we find the state on the map, read and discuss the books, and connect the stories to the area by using maps or Google Earth.  Each day we work in Explode the Code Book 2 and Singapore 2A.

Becoming Six picked this quilt fabric for the Pennsylvania Amish.
